LOS ANGELES — Acclaimed Los Angeles media expert and bestselling author Michael Levine is condemning city officials following a disturbing report detailing thousands of public-health complaints involving street-food vendors across Los Angeles County.

According to the California Post, a previously unreleased 662-page government dossier contains 9,746 complaints filed between 2023 and early 2026. The allegations reportedly include a dog eating meat from a vendor’s bag before it was served, cockroaches crawling from a food truck, mice near open salsa, raw meat sitting unrefrigerated in the heat, and people urinating around cooking equipment.

“These complaints describe conditions that sound less like a major American city and more like a public-health nightmare,” Levine said. “Yet officials who know about these dangers appear unwilling to act. That is not compassion. It is insanity.”

Levine, founder of Boundless Media USA and author of Authentic PR, said he recently visited the downtown area and was appalled by what he witnessed.

“I have personally walked through this part of downtown Los Angeles, and it made Hell look appealing,” Levine said. “The filth, disorder and official indifference are beyond belief.”

Levine emphasized that the central issue is not ethnicity or immigration status, but public safety and equal enforcement of health laws.

“Every restaurant must obey strict rules designed to protect customers,” he said. “Street vendors selling food to the public should meet meaningful safety standards as well.”

Levine called upon Los Angeles leaders to investigate the complaints, publish enforcement data and immediately address vendors presenting documented health risks.

“A government that ignores nearly 10,000 complaints has abandoned its most basic responsibility: protecting the public,” Levine concluded.
